September 2, 2017 | by: Josh Fenska | 0 Comments

Last Sunday, on "kickoff Sunday," we encouraged two steps for the sake of community: Come early on Sunday morning Hospitality ("don't spend Sunday alone") Neither of these ideas are gennius. Neither idea is all that costly. But we live in a culture that is obsessed with individualism, and starving for real relationships. The church (... Keep Reading

Post by Josh Fenska It's the First Friday of the month -- a day we mark on our calendars, inviting church members to fast, and to pray, as a way of going to God and asking Him to make us more and more fruitful in Christ. Before we get to a few things to pray for, let me add this challenge for today: church members, let us with confidence d... Keep Reading

Loving Like Jesus

A few weeks ago, we looked at Luke 4:16-21, where Jesus declared who He was and what He came to do.  Hearing His words and then seeing His ministry, it's clear that Jesus loves needy people.  Two reasons that truth excites me:   1)  I'm a needy person, and the good news of Jesus Christ has rescued me. 2)  I get to ... Coming Up: Real Talk at Rowdy's

January 9, 2014 | by: Josh Fenska | 0 Comments

Through Tim Tatum's initiative, we're going to be launching a series of community events in Yorkville on Monday nights at Rowdy's Bar & Grill. We don't fully know what to expect, but if you have neighbors who may not be interested in coming on Sunday, but who may be willing to talk about God at a bar on Monday night, please invite them! Here's a little more info: +++ Many people in this community don't feel at all interested in attending church. But everyone has ideas on the big questions about God and life and trends in our community. The owners of Rowdy's Bar in Yorkville (on Rte. 47, just south of the Fox River) have extended an invitation to us to co-host a series of discussions about real-life topics in light of the teachings of Jesus. We're excited about the opportunity. The idea is to invite absolutely anybody (whether you have a churchgoing background, an agnostic background, a Muslim background, an atheistic background, or whatever). The format will be very low-key and interactive.... Keep Reading
