Study 3 “The Letter of Complaint”

Study 3 “The Letter of Complaint”

This summer women’s fellowship groups are digging deeper in God’s Word by studying the book of Habakkuk together. As we do the third study in Living by Faith, here are a few extra notes.

Study 3    The Letter of Complaint     Habakkuk 1:12-2:1

After question 1 on page 22:

1.b.  Think about a current situation in your life where you are waiting for God to work;  or,  you don’t necessarily like what God is doing.  Are you, like Habakkuk, wrestling with how what you know about God’s character lines up with what is happening in your life?

  • Using Habakkuk 1:12 as a guide, write a letter to the Lord, declaring truths about His character. Pour out your heart in a lament, like Psalm 28 or Psalm 142.
  • Find 1 or 2 verses or passages of Scripture that you can cling to, meditate on, and put your finger on, as you fight to walk by faith through this situation.

Spend time in fellowship groups sharing your situation and your “go to” verses. Help each other find specific Truths to stand on.  Pray for each other using Scripture.  God’s Word is powerful! “It shall accomplish that which He purposes and shall succeed in the thing for which He sends it.” Isaiah 55:11

Ask the Lord to help us “take our stand” on His Word and have eyes of faith “to see” His powerful grace.  Habakkuk 2:1

Under Implications, bullet point #2 on page 25:

Select a couple of the following passages to study, as a reminder that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. Rom 3:23

Romans 3:9-12, 21-23

Romans 5:6-12

Romans 6:15-23

I Corinthians 6:9-11

Take some time to express amazement and gratitude to our gracious God, for His free gift of salvation, using Titus 2:11-14 and/or Ephesians 2:1-10
