It’s December. The Christmas season is here!
We have some sweet gatherings coming up — especially our annual Christmas Celebration on Dec. 16 (featuring a kids choir and holiday desserts), and our traditional Christmas Eve Service. And every Sunday will include Christmas songs and messages that will point us to the Savior.
This month, our sermon series is called “Bearer of Good News.” In this series we’ll learn about the meaning of Christmas from Mary, the mother of Jesus. Sunday sermons will all come from Luke chapter 1, especially Mary’s Christmas Song (traditionally called the “Magnificat” in Luke 1:46-55). Through the years, a lot of great Christmas songs have been written. But this is the very first Christmas song of them all. And, as we’ll see, it is really, really good.
Here’s a quick outline of the messages to come:
- Mary’s Faith (Luke 1:45) – Dec. 2
- Mary’s Testimony (Luke 1:46-50) – Dec. 9
- Mary’s Message (Luke 1:51-53) – Dec. 16
- Mary’s Perspective (Luke 1:54-55) – Dec. 23
- Mary’s Treasure (Luke 2:19) – Dec 24
