Deaconing Study Group

Deaconing Study Group

As we look ahead to the coming few years, the elders believe that it is time to consider adding several more deacons and deaconesses to the leadership team at Redeemer. They are considering how to wisely expand the responsibilities and structure for deaconing in our congregation, and instead of just adding a few more people in these roles, they would like to first host a series of at least four discussions about deaconing.

You should consider participating in this Deaconing Study Group if you:

  • have an interest in being a deacon, and/or
  • want to help shape what deaconing looks like at Redeemer, and/or
  • were told by a friend that you should come to this because they think you should be a deacon/ness.

Participating in these discussions will require a commitment to studying materials, including Matt Smethurst’s book, Deacons, How They Serve and Strengthen the Church, and selections from other theological and practical resources.

We will hold these meetings on January 14 and 28 at 8:00 am, and on two more dates that will be determined with the group.
